Edward is asleep, Sarah is asleep but has been sleeping since 10.15am and its now past 1pm, so she might wake at any time, Elizabeth is at nursery, nappies in washing machine, tumble drying drying, washing on airer, lunch things washed up, Sainsburys list made, have had shower, so... here goes:
Sarah has her first injections on Thursday last week, after having a couple of nights of waking and sleeping at the proper times, i.e. not waking at 10, sleeping until past midnight, then having another three ish hours, and waking just before 6am. Injections made it all go to pot though, and whether it was that and or the beginnings of a cold and or growth spurt, she's been feeding pretty much all weekend and was back to massive cluster feeding frenzies in the early hours. Last night, however, last night was a good night.
We went to a toddler group on Friday with all three of them, and that was good. Will try again.
Have almost completed the Christmas shopping, and we are now writing the cards. Still haven't ordered the christmas pudding ingredients etc. But things feel like they are more organised.
Thomas Beddoes Court opened its salesroom doors at the weekend. Husband found out prices, probably too much for us, but we bought a lottery ticket anyway. Friend might move there, so back of mind thinking could we have her house!??!
Sarah smiling and talking lots. Elizabeth as 'sensitive' as ever about e.g. the feel of her new Winter coat on her neck, how tight her slippers are, what clothes she wears - weather they 'match' etc. Lots of big arguments, including a huge almighty one yesterday fuelled by my lack of sleep when I tried to cut her hair. Think she looks a lot better now though!
Edward has been climbing spectacularly and is a hazard - coming through the hatch, smashing my 30th Birthday present Molton Brown candle that I have saved so carefully for nearly six years... He is so energetic it is untrue.
Back is still bad. Might bring forward chiropractor appointment.
Everyone still asleep? Might go and get a hot chocolate!!!
The reflections of a 34-year-old Mum... for Elizabeth and Edward and Sarah xxx

Sarah is nearly 7 weeks old...
She still cluster feeds in the early hours. She generally goes straight to sleep between 6.30pm and 7pm, and occasionally feeds around midnight, but more likely wakes around 10.30pm. If I'm lucky she'll then go another three hours waking at around 1.30pm, but sometimes it is two hours. She'll then pretty much feed every hour give or take. I've had her in bed with me the last few nights so that I can sort of doze between feeds. I don't know what miracle gets us out of the door on a Monday, Tuesday and Thursday to get Elizabeth to nursery. We generally all get out of bed at around 7am, Elizabeth stalls her way through getting washed and dressed with screaming tantrums along the way about not wanting that vest, those pants, that top, needing a tissue, wanting her slippers done up tight, you name it! I 'open Edward up' at some time after seven, and he says "Good mornin'". I then put his 'eating pyjamas on - can't get him dressed as he'd cover himself in porridge. Juggling with Sarah we'll head downstairs for breakfast and I feed Sarah in between serving up the porridge and toast. Then its upstairs for them to 'do knocking' i.e. knock on the bathroom door. They do their teeth. Edward holds the toothpaste, then dries his hands, then escapes to clamber on Elizabeth's bed, while I chase him to get dressed. She does her 'porridge mouth and toilet' usually with a lot of protesting, then we all try to get in the car. The traffic in Shifnal has been horrendous as they are doing the gas pipes in the main street, so we're invariably lates. I have to open and close two sets of gates on the way in and out of nursery, then leave the two littlies in the car while I deposit Elizabeth.
Recently I come home and then have my shower (if at all), and we haven't really made it out of the house to do anything else this week. Yesterday because I had to be online at 10am to buy Peter Kay tickets (for Birmingham gig in June - optimistic that we might be able to leave Sarah and go out at that point!), today because we're going to Chloe's birthday tea at 3pm, so we all had to be geared up for an early lunch and Edward nap, and the Sainsbury's man came early...
He still has a couple of hours in the afternoon, and I'm not really sure what Sarah's routine is, except that she feeds a lot, but generally goes to sleep by herself at bedtime. I've been trying to put her in her cot one and a half hours after waking, and sometimes this works and sometimes it doesn't. She's generally quite happy in between, and the children still love her!
We've got a mouse in the garage (at least I hope its just one, as there is one lying dead in a mouse trap as I type). Hopefully he hasn't eaten my Maclaren XLR - the pram handle has been eaten...
Edward had a major major tantrum this morning - biggest yet. Lots of screaming 'no!' to everything I suggested, very unhappy boy. He threw a book into the shower yesterday, and clambered literally through the hatch into the kitchen. He has been scratching the sofa today with his sharp finger nails. I filed them, then attempted another hair cut armed with the hoover to hoover his shoulders afterwards!
Husband has applied for his own job - finds out in January. We've seen the second school and now need to apply for Elizabeth's school place. We've nearly finished our Christmas shopping which is something of a miracle. The houses are being built at Thomas Beddoes Court and we might have an appointment this Saturday to get further information about them. Exhuasted still. Good days and bad days. Had my hair cut on Saturday. Sister is engaged. She was up at the weekend and asked me to be matron of honour. Its going to be Autumn 2011 so hopefully I'll have lost weight by then. Trying to look forward rather than worry - how will I manage Sarah? Where will the children sit? Will I be on the top table and if so how will George cope? Will we stay overnight? How will it all pan out?
