Sarah is 13 weeks, illness strikes the camp...

What a week we've had. Sunday saw Elizabeth going downhill - lethargic, almost falling asleep, not her usual self at all. Thought she was ok on Monday morning, so she went to nursery as normal, then the nursery rang just after lunch having battled with Edward and his constant wailing all morning. Elizabeth was 'very quiet' and very warm, apparently. Called Dad. Got him to sit with the sleeping other two, and went to fetch her. Settled her on the sofa after he'd left and within minutes she was throwing up in my hands, and all over the sofa and living room floor. I set about clearing up, washing all our clothes and bed-linen and instantly called husband home as I couldn't contemplate looking after all three. In the event she wasn't too bad for the rest of the evening. Didn't eat anything much, didn't have a bath, straight to bed. In the morning she downed most of my glass of water then threw up again. She didn't have breakfast, had an apple for lunch, then went cold and shivery, and fell asleep on the sofa. By Wednesday she seemed ok in the morning but did the cold and shivery thing in the afternoon again and fell asleep. Today (Thursday) she was actually ok again. So, nursery predictions that it was chicken pox didn't come to fruition. Meantime Edward has been unbelievably grumpy. He's had a cold, now has a cough. He has had a couple of wheezy days, but touch wood seems to be over the worst (although his tantrums are now in a class of their own.) Sarah has a bad cold. She started with it a couple of days ago, was really blocked up and miserable, then has started with a cough (last night and today) and was really sick yesterday afternoon (in exactly the same spot as Elizabeth, while I was sitting on the sofa - all over me too!) and this morning. She seems to be on the mend though, so fingers crossed it will be all clear for Christmas.

So... last weekend saw us at Weston Sawmill to get our Christmas tree (or Chi'mas as Edward says). Chose a really big one this year, got the decorations box down, and I decorated it on Sunday evening. We've got most of the presents now. Edward is having his half of the Walkie Talkie set and a 'drawing thing', an 'electric guitar' from ELC, a Tonka pick-up truck and bits and bobs, and Elizabeth is having a baby Annabelle and the skipping rope that she has asked Father Christmas for. Exhausted. Back slightly better since I started lying on a 15tog duvet at the chiropractor's suggestion.

Sarah is 10 weeks, 11 weeks old tomorrow!

Had her weighed on Monday and she's 14lb, just under the 91st centile. She is just starting to notice her hands, and has been sucking them quite a lot! Still mostly sleeping well in the early evening although we've had a few evenings when she fed at 9.30pm or 10.30pm. She seems to feed a lot more in the afternoon though now, yesterday from about 1.30 until about 4.30pm quite relentlessly. She is is 6-9 month sleepsuits and vests as of the weekend, and again we struggled to find the right bag with the right stuff in.

Edward is having more tantrums - meltdowns when it is breakfast time for example. And, he is not eating as well at tea-time. He'll pick at the food then so 'no like it' and scream for his yoghurt.

We're having a couple of 'snow days' at the moment. Yesterday I kept Elizabeth home from nursery school, and today the Mazda is in for a service and to see what is wrong with the suspension as the tyres wore down in a pretty extreme fashion, so we're stuck in. Had planned to go to the library but Sarah is still asleep at 11.10am... Have made some appointments for sister's wedding dress shopping on Wednesday 22nd December which reminds me - Edward started the advent calendar this morning!! Can't believe its only just over three weeks away!
