Oh what a few weeks it has been! Monday 8th February viewing (early - straight from nursery run), then another viewing on Thursday 11th, 1pm, rushed lunch then over to Dad's for half an hour with an ailing Edward. He was full of cold, coughing lots, and really whining and miserable. The more time went on the more concerned I became about his breathing which seemed laboured and shallow/rapid. Rang the doctors, they asked for me to bring him in. Saw the GP and he examined his little chest which was going in a lot with each breath, and decided to send us to ward 2 at the hospital. Rang husband in panic asking him to come back and look after Elizbeth, and I took my little piggy off to hospital, looking around my shoulder in panic with every breath. We were seen by the SHO who brought her senior man out to investigate him, and we were told we'd be staying in that night.
Oh my God! I had to take him to have a chest x-ray - little fellow sitting with no top on with his arms outstretched while a woman held him in place. There was no evidence of a chest infection, but I had to take him to the ward for observation, and he had some Calpol and eventually sort of settled a little bit in his cage (sorry, cot). Husband came in eventually and I set off in search of food. Restaurant shut, so bolted down a flapjack. Edward was awake when I got back, and thus began a very fraught night. I hardly slept at all! The next morning I had to get him dressed, still in the clothes I was wearing from the night before, then attempt breakfast in the play room where I'd spied a highchair. Just as the ward round was beginning husband brought Elizabeth in, and Edward seemed genuinely pleased to see her. She gave him a big hug and a kiss. They played together in the ward round while we waited for the discharge letter and prescription of eye drops for his sticky eye. Eventually got home at around 1pm, then husband went back to collect the Micra from the hospital car park and to buy Calpol.
Home never looked so great - felt like I was on cloud nine enjoying home comforts, after the stark environment and feeling like a fish out of water it was great to be home. Edward was still pretty miserable for another couple of days, but now he's back to his fantastic best. Early waking back with avengeance, but hey ho, he's better!
I think I've had a bit of whatever virus he had - been so unbelievably tired the last few days, but now have full-blown cold symptoms so am hoping I'm over the worst.
Last week was half-term - week prior to that I worked on a Tuesday at Matthew Boulton, arriving by train only to be told that I'd be back at Sutton after half-term, and on a Thursday to boot. Terrific. Am still disputing the hours I'm being asked to work, and feel very negative about the whole thing, but am trying not to get too stressed about it.
Elizabeth back at nursery school this morning so have managed to strip our bed, make a Sainsbury's list and tidy around a bit. Feel a bit like things have run away with me - am so tired and so forth, so just trying to get back in control.
Oh yes, last Monday had my 'booking-in' appointment with the midwife at PRH. Went through an hour and a half of computerised questions, got several packs/books etc, and came home feeling very down because they said probably I'd have to have #3 at the consultant unit owing to concerns about Group B strep. Will fight on.

8 weeks pg...
and still shattered. Been in to work for my first day - husband took annual leave and looked after Edward and Elizabeth, so that worked ok. It was just that I wasn't planning on having to cover 3 hours of AS Psychology lessons, finishing at 4.45 then having to drive home through rush-hour traffic. Was knackered and very stressed when I finally did get in. Have been finding it harder to eat, and am constantly hungry, so that didn't help my general demenour at work.
They've agreed now that my working day will be a Tuesday, and I'll be based at the city centre campus, so that is something. On the positive side I don't have to work with the waste of space I've been interacting with over email for the last x number of months, I don't have to drive to Sutton Coldfield, and I'll be in a staffroom with people I know. I think I might get the train in.
Husband now on train back from conference in London. Have just spent very long day with the children (Edward woke up at 4.30am and refused to go back to sleep). We went to group this morning and he fell asleep on the way, then I've had some help from my Mum this evening to put them both to bed, and in bed they were for 6.40pm. Am pooped!
