Well, a stressful few weeks passed as we tried to jump through the mortgage company's hoops. It was a case of having to provide evidence in the format that they required: payslips, P60s, bank statements etc. Nerve-wracking process, but the mortgage has been agreed subject to valuation, and finally we've instructed the survey which should go ahead next Monday. Boxes have been packed steadily - the garage walls are lined with the contents of the shed and garage, loft and some bits and bobs from the house, and this week I've been trying to fill a couple of boxes per day from the house. When will it end? I've stopped driving past the new house, the novelty of it all has worn off, and I'm now just worried about all the ifs and buts and most importantly WHEN will we move.
We went down to London last week for our Olympic adventure, and what an adventure it was! After watching the opening ceremony on Friday night then being glued to most of the action over those next few days we were quite excited as we drove down to Surrey, parked up at Mark and Angela's, and got the train from Worcester Park to Waterloo carrying our two bags, and with Sarah strapped in the 'Ikea buggy' with the children's rucksacks slung over the handles. Everything else, raincoats, umbrellas, suncream, water bottles, you name it - in my green bag. The children enjoyed the train ride, and we managed to navigate the busy station and walk out to the hotel which was just around the corner. Settled in to our lovely big room, had a snack, then went out for a walk to take in the atmosphere - wonderful! Saw Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament, walked past Downing Street, crossed over the Thames, saw flowers and festivals at festival park. Had a slightly protracted evening meal which tested our patience, then had quite a difficult night in the hotel room because it was so hot. The children settled fine, but all woke up thirsty and we had no water - I had to set off for the hotel lobby in my jeans and husband's t-shirt in the early hours of the morning to buy two bottles of water!! Opened windows then tried to sleep, but bit of a nightmare having to get up at 5am!!
Big big breakfast, then left our luggage in the hotel and walked off to Horseguards' Parade (the long way round), gliding through the security check-point, filling our water bottles, then climbing all the way to the very top of the stadium to watch the end of Greece v China, then Mauritius against Germany. Very exciting atmosphere, slightly stressful keeping tabs on everyone, Sarah enjoyed it the most!! We called it a day and came away, heading back first to the hotel to get the bags, then to the station, then train to Worcester Park, then lengthy walk to Harvester pub for lunch (late) then on to Mark and Angela's to pick up the car. Finally arrived home around 7pm. Exhuasted. Well worth it though!!
Approximately two weeks ago I saw the antenatal physio about the SPD (PGP?) that has now returned, so was sporting a support belt as we tromped around London. Been in quite a lot of pain, which is why the walking has been even more difficult. A week with the husband at home has enabled me to rest a bit more, but now parents on holiday and husband at work I've got the three children at home with lots of boxes to pack, and am feeling it! Midwife later this morning... we'll see!
